The information is stored in a relational or object-oriented database management system (RDBMS). Cloud Data Warehouse architecture takes full advantage of the benefits of distributed systems and brings together data from different sources in a more manageable way. For instance, rather than having all the data in one place, it is placed in an optimized collection of devices that are geographically dispersed. The models allow for both centralization of data and access to it from any application that is connected to the internet. There are several advantages of using cloud Data Warehouse applications. When running on-premises applications the main constraint is the size of the database needed to support heavy analytical processing. In the case of a public cloud data warehouse, the number of queries per second (QPS) is automatically calculated based on the request/hour ratio. This ensures that the system delivers the right amount of traffic at the right time enabling maximum capacity without affecting operational efficiency. Another advantage of an on-premise cloud data warehouse application is the availability of historical data which can be retrieved for a specific period. This is made possible by the usage of APIs. APIs or application programming interfaces are codes that allow third parties to access previously stored information. It is then up to the client to use the information to perform analytics and reporting. An on-premise cloud data warehouse has several disadvantages, mostly related to its reliance on data obtained from outside sources. This could mean missing out on opportunities for new developments in the source data. Also, the system requires advanced knowledge and soft skills to design, monitor, and maintain it. However, for small and medium-sized businesses the benefits of this data quality and analytics software far outweigh its disadvantages.
